NAPP’s Advanced Metering Solutions provide an important tool that allows us and our customers to assess and monitor performance of load reduction strategies for revenue generation. Advanced Metering systems are leading in the industry. Advanced Metering can interface with utilities’ Smart Grid systems and meet ISO requirements to provide optimal flexibility and benefits to NAPP’s Demand Response customers.
NAPP’s Advanced Metering Programs:
- Provide our advanced metering solution to all NAPP customers
- Capture and transmits 1 minute interval data (a more frequent requirement for participation in ISO markets),
- Report standard 15 minute data with hourly updates via a secure web reporting interface that is easy to use with live training and support.
- Provide more frequent report updates (real time) and shorter intervals (1 minute) if needed; and provide valuable yet simple usage and demand reports through NAPP’s FLEXLOAD™ reporting
- Provide desktop evaluations and detailed engineering assessments to determine customer DR resource capabilities, and
- Partner with automation, controls and generation and permitting experts to provide turnkey solutions to facilitate and expand customer DR resources.
NAPP works with its customers to identify the portion of electric load at each facility that will be reduced – aligning customers’ objectives to generate revenues while limiting impact on facility operations. Ways that facilities reduce their energy usage include idling equipment, shutting down processes, raising thermostats, utilizing building automation and energy management systems, or reducing lighting. NAPP will provide the metering technology and transaction systems required to participate in our DR programs.
In the future, NAPP expects that the market will require direct control and/or automated DR along with advanced metering in order to qualify the resources. This will also facilitate Smart Grid enabled DR. NAPP’s approach is already consistent with these proposed future requirements. NAPP will expand its offerings to include a greater analytic and reporting capability of historical market data and forecasts; increased customer performance data and historical records; industry news and regulatory reports; in house technology solutions; enhanced bidding applications and settlement processing and reporting.
