Laurie Wiegand-Jackson, President of North America Power Partners has completed a series of speaking engagements across the USA as an advocate for Demand Response and its role as a financial solution in these challenging economic times. Most recently she spoke at the American Institute of Steel Technology’s annual conference in St. Louis, MO to participants in the steel industry, an industry hard hit by the recession. Her talk titled “Demand Response: How Facilities can be Paid a Recurring Revenue Stream to Improve Grid Reliability and Lower Wholesale Prices” was well received. She is currently a member of the Energy and Utilities Committee of AIST.

In April Wiegand-Jackson traveled to Atlanta, GA, to speak at the FMA Congress, the 3rd show in a series on Progressive Energy and the Environment. NAPP was a sponsor of the conference which focused on energy reduction, environmental sustainability and green data centers.  Laurie also spoke at the Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA) conference in Annapolis, MD to an audience of utility companies and energy industry executives with a speech titled “Demand Response: Paving the Way for the New Energy Alternatives”. She spoke on demand response and its direct relationship to reduced carbon emissions, an environmental added-value resulting from Demand Response programs.  With a new carbon cap and trade system in place in the northeast, emission reduction is a hot topic in the power sector, a sector tasked with reducing their carbon footprint.

In June, Ms. Wiegand-Jackson will be speaking at the West Coast Energy Management Congress in Long Beach California, where the company operates a Demand Response program for Southern California Edison.

“This is an exciting time in the energy industry, and yet we are in the midst of the worst economic crisis in decades,” says Ms. Wiegand Jackson. “We could say that these are the best of times and the worst of times. Much is happening in the energy sector that is supporting the development of new energy efficiency and renewable energy programs including the development of Demand Response resources across the United States. NAPP is committed to helping our customers make the most of these new energy initiatives in the midst of these challenging times.”

By speaking to audiences across the nation, Laurie Wiegand- Jackson is spreading the word on the value of demand response, the energy efficiency voice of the future, bringing “Smart Grid” technology to aging electric grids and to utilities across the USA.
